ROpening on October 06, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the JMC
Exhibition from 08 October to 12 November 2023

This exhibition gives voice to Jewish women during the Holocaust. It shows their lives and their reaction to the brutal and inhuman reality they were exposed to.
It addresses nine key themes of Jewish women’s everyday struggle for survival: Love, Motherhood, Caring for Others, Womanhood, Resistance and Rescue, Friendship, Faith, Food, and Art.
Each aspect is illustrated by an individual story, reflected through personal documents or objects. In this way, the exhibition reveals the concrete stories behind historical events and gives personal faces and voices to those who were supposed to sink into obscurity and anonymity.
The exhibition is adapted from the exhibition „Spots of Light,“ curated by Yehudit Inbar, Yad Vashem and produced by the Traveling Exhibitions Department, Museum Division, Yad Vashem.

The exhibition „Spots of Light“ is accompanied by the online exhibition „Righteous Women“ of the international Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem. Slightly more than half of the Righteous Among the Nations recognized by Yad Vashem are women. While many of them acted in cooperation with other family members, some of these courageous women took the initiative on their own and worked independently of others to save Jews. Some of their stories can be viewed at the Jewish Museum during the exhibition „Spots of Light“ on a specially designed media station.
