The Foundation Jewish Museum Creglingen invites you to a lecture on June 5, 2025 on the topic: “How much of 1933 is in 2025?- On the failure of the Weimar Republic, the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship and what can be deduced from this for the present”.
It only took the National Socialists a few months to destroy democracy, establish a dictatorship and eliminate all political opposition. In her lecture, the renowned historian Dr. Nicola Wenge will first examine the question of why the first German democracy was destroyed so quickly. She then discusses similarities and differences to the situation today and concludes by asking what can be deduced from this historical-political comparison for strengthening democracy today.
The Creglingen Jewish Museum Foundation is delighted to have secured the services of Dr. Wenge, a highly competent academic, for this lecture. She is Scientific Director and Managing Director of the Documentation Center Oberer Kuhberg Ulm e.V. – Concentration Camp Memorial (DZOK). Numerous publications on the history of National Socialism, the culture of remembrance and historical-political educational work. Wenge is a lecturer at the Institute for Historical Regional Studies at the University of Tübingen and is spokesperson for the Baden-Württemberg State Working Group of Memorials and Memorial Initiatives.
The lecture will take place on June 05, 2025 at 19:00 at the Jewish Museum.
